![]() Marie-Claire: Dark Spring Historical Context: Dark Spring is about one girl's day-to-day life in Montreal during 1885, in the midst of a smallpox epidemic. Marie-Claire confronts the results of poor sanitation, poverty and the moral challenges of friendships and family ties in the face of adversity. Class Activities: Marie-Claire has a large family that is very close. As a class, draw Marie-Claire's family tree and then have students build their own family trees.
